One of the most exciting fantasy reads I’ve come across in a while.
“I ain’t did nothing to you, freak. You were a pile of stumbling death when you came to my abbey.”
From the first chapter, the pace never lets up—it’s packed with action, but not at the expense of character or world depth. The author does an incredible job building a vast, vivid world that feels real without overwhelming the reader. You’re dropped into a universe that’s clearly been carefully crafted, with its own history, politics, and magic systems.
The characters are just as compelling—flawed, brave, and full of heart. I found myself genuinely invested in their journeys, rooting for them, and at times, holding my breath.
Another standout element? The interior artwork. It’s rare to find a fantasy book with such thoughtfully integrated visuals. Each illustration adds texture to the story and helped me visualize key scenes even more clearly.
Also—without spoiling anything—that twist at the end? I didn’t see it coming. It completely reframed parts of the story in a way that made me want to go back and reread certain chapters. So clever, and really well done.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, clean fantasy read with epic scope, memorable characters, and a story that sticks with you, this is it. Highly recommend.
